His 1st idea was to borrow hundreds of trillions from the Chinese, and give it to the Auto Workers' and Government Employees' unions. Didn't work so well. (Say...has that ever worked? How does the efficacy of keynesian spending approaches compare to the efficacy of tax rate cuts to pull us out of the recession, used in 1961, 1981, and 2002.)? Of course, his 2nd great idea (he was still talking about it this past June) is to spend billions on wind farmrs to "invest" in our future. That's a great idea- spend money we don't have so that energy can be more expensive (we lose money on every fan but plan to make it up on volume?). I think the idea is that the Euros will envy our ridiculously expensive energy and pay us billions more so their energy can be more expensive too. I know a lot of folks like to mock Palin for slips and funny things, but has she ever repeatedly stated something as stupid as this? And then done it? Our economy is headed off a cliff, and people are afraid to tell this emperor his new clothes are a fiction. That's why I unashamedly admit that the overriding goal I have is to see this president defeated next year. I don't see any way we pull out of this mess with him at the helm.
Me too. At a minimum, he will not be coming up with boneheaded ideas to spend us further into oblivion like Obama.
The level of discussion on this thread is enough to make the WSJ blush! Great points being made based on truthful data here.
Agree that we should all give to the poor. Ourselves. Government does not need to be in the business of charity. It is not good at that.
I don't get subsidies so why should they? We just need to be as competitive as possible in the world marketplace. Unfortunately the POTUS has no clue about such issues. He's all about class warfare. One trick pony. I was so glad to hear that I've not been asked to contribute anything on Tuesday night. Not anything! Idiot.
Yo, I don't remember a single instance of Jesus chiding the Roman government about what it does and doesn't spend on the poor. I just can't recall what Jesus said about that. I do recall Jesus calling people who believe in Him, and in God His Father to give to the poor. I believe in you enough to have NO doubts you do that. I do appreciate the seriousness with which you take your faith. No sarcasm, seriously. I do remember Jesus saying 'give to Caesar what is Caesar's.' Which I read to mean that people shouldn't complain about having to pay taxes. That cuts out much on the 'right' and their complaints about taxes. Although, I haven't heard many of them say we shouldn't pay taxes (at least not on here), what they debate is the rate which paying taxes exists and how good that is for our country as a whole. As far as Perry, I don't have a much lower opinion of many politicians. I do believe we ought to pray, and that we ought to act as a responsibility of what we can do. Frankly, Perry may be acting as well as praying, but I just tend to disagree with much of his action.
Ok- so to be clear, are you advocating that oil subsidies be removed if it helps to balance the budget? And yes oilfield- Obama is not nearly as intelligent as you are. He's such an idiot.
If you talk about helping others they call you a Christian. If you actually do it they call you a Socialist.
I am curious about these subsidies. Not being facetious here. What subsidies do the oil and gas industry get that are not available to other industries? I really don't know what they are. The only one I can think of is depletion allowance. However, that is nothing more than depreciation on an assett that is used by every industry. It just has a different name. Can anyone help me out?
