Horns better be on upset alert. This is Baylor's bowl game. They'll want this more than anything. I trust Orlando though. Horns 38 Baylor 21
All of this. Potential 'trap' game here if the team doesn't shake off the OSU loss. We will be able to move the ball on them if the offense gets off the bus, and our defense can hang with anyone. Texas 35 Baylor 17
This will be TH worst week as Head Coach I would think. Somehow he has to keep the players and coaches focused without distractions. That will be tough. This loss got to him, he was rattled in that post game press conference. I worry about the offense. They have got to get some improvement on that O Line and from the RB position. I'm a broken record but until they do we are not going to have much success short of riding Ehlinger for 20 carries a game. I'm 50/50 on whether they revert back to running Ehlinger into the ground. 20-3 Texas wins.
The 4th Quarter is where the game will be narrowly held on to or given away. WV was up 38-13 going into the fourth and just about gave the game away. I don't envision us having the luxury of a 25 point lead ANYWHERE in the game...although admittedly, I would never have guessed the Dallas Cowboys would be up on SF 40-3 late in the game yesterday. With Heard at QB and TH being unwilling to just feed the ball to CW III 30 times a game, I don't know that Texas puts 21 on the board unless the defense converts a TO into a score or we have a kick returner take one to the house.
Texas - 2 (Hager causes and recovers the fumble) Ethically challenged school on the Brazos - 0 But, if Beck goes with Heard -- which he should do because Ehlinger is concussed and Buechele is injured everywhere, then I will revise my prediction as follows: Texas - 35 Waco - 0 What is the antidote for a very porous offensive line? A very mobile and fast QB. Hence, Mr. Heard.
Only problem is Mr. Heard cannot pass (refer back to the last games he started), and the OL cannot run block. Herman had better find some Gorilla Glue or something and apply it to Shane's ankle.
We are missing an o-line, a running game, and a QB. We've been missing at least two of those three ingredients the whole year. Unless someone raids the larder, we can't bake a cake. Unfortunately, this will be broadcast on ESPNU, not The Food Network. Texas 17 Baylor 24
This game has too many variables to predict. Four different teams. 1) Baylor mailed in their early season. Junior & seniors rebelled over loss of their coaches and the lack of being included in the selection process. 2) They blame Texas for the loss of their coaches. Irrational? Yes! Unintelligent? Baylor doesn't recruit Rhodes Scholars. In their twisted thinking, they want to "get even" by hanging 50 on Texas. It is their bowl game. Which group shows up Saturday? They have had a couple of good tuneups to prove to themselves they can pull it off. We still don't have an identity, caused mainly by the coaches continuous refusal to maximize the best personnel in any particular situation. Rarely have we taken advantages of mismatches - see OU, then Herman's total refusal to understand that 6'6" and 6'5" is taller than 5'10" and 6'. Why weren't Johnson, Leonard, and Foreman on the field for the last play against oSu? Why is Duvernay ever on the field inside the opponents 30? Personnel management can allow us to win every game left on the schedule except maybe TCU. That same personnel management can also lose those same games.
This^^^ is a very good point followed by a very good question. The three receivers you mentioned can go get it. Actually, so can Mapps and Humphrey. Our receivers create match up problems with every D back set in the country. And Humprey and Heard can run Wildhorn options that would give D coordinators nightmares inside the 20: running game options, passing options (Heard), etc. And TH's constant blaming the absence of proven performers on "practice" must be code for "he's in my doghouse."
Baylor 24 Horns 27 Actually I have no clue....Hopefully after two close Losses coming at the end of the game in a row, the Horns will be angry, come out and mudhole Baylor. Their backup QB Brewer, brought them back scoring 23 in the 4th Q against WVU and came within a 2 pt conversion of sending the game to OT. 23 points in the 4th quarter...hell our O is lucky to score 17-24 points in a whole game. Toss up on this one.
The team that just held osu to 10 in game time would certainly hold bu to 14 or less. But after 2 heartbreaking losses in a row, I'm not sure. Especially with the offense so inept, it could have a negative psychological impact on the D. Any who, I'm saying Horns win. 24 Horns 16 Bears
I realize we are inept on offense, but this is a winless Baylor team with a defense and special teams that sucks. UT 24 baylor 14
Don't know how any of you expect us to reach 24 pts considering TH adversity to FGs - missed extra point and 2 safeties? 4TD w/ 4 missed extra points? I predict 3 forced turnovers to either score or give the O a short field and 1 drive by the O to make the score 28 - 0.
At halftime, we are down 6-0. In the 2nd half, the coaches decide to forgo offense and punt on first down. Longhorns D then gets 9 Safeties. Dixon gets Offensive MVP!... but unfortunately gets a concussion too after Tim Beck reverts to form and asks him to run an inside zone read and keep it... But the good guys get the W: Baylor - 6 UT - 18
Honestly, I'm so weary with this team after the last 2 games / season. So many variables for both teams coming into this game. Bailor is hungry and the Horns?
