I try to forget that game!
Can't link it but there's a story on espn college football page that Kobe Boyce is stepping away from the team to concentrate on his mental health. Says he's battled depression for many years. Wise decision and I wish him all the best.
Texas CB Boyce steps away, citing depression
Good for him. Better get right now while he’s young.
Best wishes to him for a good life.
Sam chasing 5 all time records at Texas ... fun read ... a shortened season could get in the way though
Five breakable records for Texas QB Sam Ehlinger
In two years as a underclassmen he has combined rushing and receiving 2689 yards and 14 TDs. And he's rushed for 6.0 yards/carry despite very little support from the rest of his offense. His best games in terms of rushing yards:
2018 Oklahoma (252 yards, 16.8 ypc, 2 TD)
2019 Texas (190 yards, 7.6 ypc, 2 TD)
2018 Rutgers (163 yards, 8.6 ypc, 1 TD)
2019 Iowa State (154 yards, 8.1 ypc, 0 TD)
2019 Oklahoma (137 yards, 6.0 ypc, 0 TD)
2018 Ctrl Michigan (125 yards, 8.9 ypc, 2 TD)
If anything, Oklahoma put him on the map, although we helped as well (his 9th best game was also against us).
Preseason poll "as voted on by media representatives"
Offense should be better - better OC, QB, RB, OL depth, TE. Defense should be way better (less DB injuries, better DC and use of DL). Only reason we are not #1 is because of Herman.
I would submit there are three reasons we aren't #1
1) Tom Herman
2) Linc Riley
2-A) Tom Herman
3) Mike Gundy
3-A) Tom Herman
I still say we end up above OSU...and think we win the RRR.
The RRR is the one everyone wants to win, but the CCG is the must game to win.
Juwan seems to suggest he gave less than full effort last season
But you can count on him this year
Just call the opposing team racist based on something from the 1880’s and we’re good.
This will be the most powerful new recruiting tool.
SEC recruiting is a little ironic in this regard
I take it Juwan is a communication major with a minor in English?
From rec board, some numbers that stood out from the new roster
Card: 6'2, 193
JQJ: 6'2, 232
Bijan: 6'0, 222
Young 215 (our lightest RB)
Black: 6'3, 217
Harrison: 5'10, 170
Dixon: 6'0, 180
Omeire: 6'3, 230
J. Moore under 170
Cosmi 6'7 309
Majors: 6'3, 298
Parr: 6'4, 298
Garth: 6'5, 299
Crawford: 5'11, 185
Alford: 6'0, 190
Adimora 214 (from 185)
Jerrin: 6'0, 190
Barron: 5'11, 183
Hullaby: 6'2, 217
Ford: 6'2, 223
Bimage 251 (down ~20)
Dorbah: 6'3, 220
Goram-Welch: 6'4, 295
Broughton: 6'4, 290
Collins: 6'5, 305
Sweat 6'4, 348
Coburn 6'2, 348
Ojomo 6'3, 276
LOL - 350 is apparently the limit for DT.
Sweat is gonna be ~700# by his senior year - he will hold up 4 OLs single-handedly
Presumably Joshua Moore is lighter now since he is no longer packing.
And still run a 4.9 40.
Imagine this offensive set.
QB Sam Ehlinger
RB Bijan Robinson
WR Malcolm Epps
WR Brennan Eagles
Slot Jordan Whittington
Slot Jake Smith
That is actually enough firepower to rival Clemson, Bama, and Ohio State. I think only Epps wasn't a top 100 recruit of that group.
Or just our running back room
Young 215Decent OL play and we are off and running
Is that too much to ask for?
Or to summarize:
Riley: Shown the ability to take over an elite program, compete consistently at an elite level and go the the CFP
Gundy: Shown the abilty to win consistently at a back water program, coming within an eyelash of a BCS title game with inferior talent.
Herman: Shown the ability to sucker smart people out of $20M in four years, while being unable to lead a 4 car funeral.
The largest guys --
NT Keondre Coburn: 6-2/348
NT T’Vondre Sweat: 6-4/348
OG: Tope Imade: 6-6/355
OG: Willie Tyler: 6-7/335
But the starting OL dropped weight
By design? Or due to "other factors?"
It certainly is..
.. IF you have a tier 1 offensive line.
