A piece of Texas died with JJW passing. Seems surreal

Sad, I love most if not all of his music.

Went to see him @AWH in January of 1980 with my future wife (2nd date). After a 60-90 minute wait for him to come on, we bailed and went to a movie on campus instead (Birth of a Nation believe it or not).
Always wanted to try again but never quite got around to it. Passed on Elvis in 1975 with similar results.

Saw him in Austin in the 70s four times. He was real drunk three times and the fourth he was trying to sober up and guzzling massive amounts of water. Liked his albums and Bojangles was/is great

for a New York folksinger he did a passable imitation of an urban drugstore cowboy

    RIP

Yes 2020 kinda bites—— Charlie Daniels, Eddie Van Halen and now Jerry Jeff. To think we celebrated New Year’s Eve 2019.
I saw JJW in 1983 in college, then i saw him in 2005 in Austin, the I saw him in 2009 at Gruene.
Never been anyone like him and probably never will be.
He really took to Texas and helped further define our culture.
