I want to start a website, I already have the idea, what do I need to know?

Where should I register the name?

    Where should I get hosting?

Should I do them in the same place?

    Any other tips...

    Thanks

Well there are alot of things to know. First I don't know if you plan to make money off of ads or some other business model. Ads can be tricky until you get lots o traffic.

Of course, there is the obligatory "it won't be as easy as you think."

You can register at godaddy.com and get hosting. They are cheap, but their user interface is confusing as hell. They have good customer service however that will likely talk you through it all.

Not sure if you know about Google adsense -- they are the 800-lb gorilla in the web ad world. They are a must to look in to. One you get plenty of traffic, you can have get other people to buy ads.

Remember, content it key. The more you have on the site, the more often people will visit. Also, the more often it will be spidered -- meaning you will be better at bringing people in through search engines.
