Special teams play does not seem a priority with this program. Was for Coach Royal. That was his mantra -- Kicking game is key to a winning program. Special teams. That and turnovers. When enough of the little things are done, the big picture starts to look good and work better. Without it, the whole thing looks fractured and frazzled over 60 min. That's how it's been looking to me. Like a kitty on a thread of a sweater. Or my dog when he was a puppy. Unraveled.
What happened here is clear. When given two weeks to address issues these coaches practiced and did they same thing they've been doing for the past two seasons.
All I have to say is I am really glad Charlie got involved with the defense the past two weeks. Who knows how bad it could have been?
Wow! For those of you that know Mike Perrin or how he rolls, that's not a good statement for Charlie and Co. Not good at all.
