OK I was at the Saturday game and I need some help with my unhip-ness. Often when our guys got a big hit or a pitcher would get a big strike out, they would flash a hand sign that was 2 fingers pointed down. What does this mean? I kinda don't like it because one player did it with 2 hands and it looked like someone giving the "horns down" sign. Somebody help an old man who is not with it.

Nice series - sweeps are always nice.

2 fingers down is a double.

I also wondered about the two fingers down but noticed it conceded with a double. Hopefully a single will not result with a single finger.....

Has it perhaps been expanded to mean double play? I saw our pitcher do it when we turned a double play to end an inning with the bases loaded.

I believe he was complaining about balls-strikes calls from the dugout
