i had this idea of putting these vending machines at each gas pump and when you put your card in to pay for the gas you could also purchase your candy or drinks. if grocery stores have figured out that you put the candy at the checkout, i don't see why gas stations can't figure this out.
I don't know why they don't do it. Almost every college these days has a card reader to use your dining hall money on soda and snack machines.
in NYC we have "Muni-Meters" that cover a block or so, this way there are not individual meters everywhere and these take plastic and cash. hell, in some places you can pay vending machines with phones and fobs
our hotel in santa monica for the rose bowl had vending machines that accepted credit. the sucky part is they cost $2.50/drink. they are still the only machines ive seen that do this.
holy crap! i go downstairs during my break and what do i see?!?!?! vending machines with debit/credit card swipers! the only problem is that it's just on the coke/drink machines...not on the "eat this snack food and you'll get fat" machines.
The vending machines in Presby of Plano's Emergency Room take cc's. I just found that out last night...
Reno airport has iPod and cell phone vending machines. They are all kinds of awesome. I'm pretty sure they take credit (or they could be jerks and make it exact change only).
