Whats that in the Austin Sky

    I am in N Austin

    Look to the west fairly low. What looks like a super bright star, brighter than i have ever seen.

    Zoom into this star with a camera, I wish I had a telescope.

    Cam anyone tell me what that is

    That's Alderon exploding. The light from it is finally reaching Earth.

    Although I like the previous response, it's actually the planet Venus, which is relatively close to us right now. Thus, it's unusually bright.

    We've been dance with Venus for a few months now. There was a fantastic convergence between Venus, Jupiter and the Moon on December first. I shot a few pictures:

    It's Bevo with a cape and a miner's hat light, making his final approach on Mike Leach.

    Poor Mike. He won't know what stomped the ever-living crap out of him.
