Why not just keep criminals in prison? Look, I'll make it easy for you - we'll keep them locked up, and they can just vote there so the Democrats won't lose any votes come election time. It's win - win!
 
Ohio's Legislature has passed Constitutional Carry, bring that state within a signature from the Governor of have that law.

CC is on the move in GA, IN, and Alabama as well. Florida doesn't have much movement, but as was expected, as they still don't even have open or campus carry either.

Still, having up to 4 states go as pro-gun as you can get, via Constitutional Carry, plus the big wins last year with CC in Texas, Iowa, and Tenn, is shaping up to be a fantastic election cycle since Jan 2021. And a big surprise after Depends installation into the White House.

Looking forward to a nice Supreme Court win June time frame on striking down May Issue carry laws, and hopefully providing guidance (i.e. banging the hammer down on lower courts who magically always find a reason why gun laws are A OK)

The public is uninformed as the Biden administration pushed for elimination of physical currency and movement to digital currency. Their goals include creating equity and climate change. Universal oversight of all purchases.
 
EDT, I was just debating with my daughter why it is reasonable for people to own tanks if they want to.

I'm late to the game but I bought a Glock 19 last week. I had a hunting rifle but not a handgun.
 
Dude bought the AR at 2:00 and was putting people down by 5:00. Efficient.

The Governor, who's first act was to push forward open carry and banning of red flag laws offers his thoughts AND his prayers.
While I'm at it, I would praise the TPD who were in the building within minutes. Kudos.

What precisely would any new laws have done to prevent it? There are no indications that he would trip the red flag indicators and does not, at this point, appear to be a person who was precluded by law to purchase any hand gun or long rifle.

And before you say "three-day waiting period," this appears to be a person motivated by being pissed off at his treatment provider and so the incident would not have been prevented. It would only have occurred on a different date on the calendar.

It sucks, but that seems to be the bottom line.

Maybe people cool off if there's a waiting period. But, hey, it's not perfect, so let's do nothing but market more guns and ammo!

45,000 firearm deaths annually. Impact it by 10% and you impact 4,500 lives. That seems significant.

He was pissed at his doctor and blaming the doctor for the ongoing pain...he wasn't cooling off.

54% of gun-related deaths are suicide. Those typically are not committed through the use of the evil and much-maligned AR-15. 43% are murders, of which only a very small percentage are "mass shootings." Instead, they are committed by criminals doing criminal ****. You aren't going to find 10% by going after long-guns. You won't get 10% by deciding after more than 60 years that the age for an AR-15 or other long gun needs to be increased.

We ALSO have a smaller RATE per 100K than we had almost 50 years ago. That's right, more people per 100K were killed by firearms in 1974 than were killed in 2020 (the year where you got your number from).

People like you are strangely silent when, for example, a Tesla on auto-drive crashes and explodes into flame. But because those are something that happens and makes headlines, there ought to be the same clamoring to ban them because "OMFG...HEADLINES." Instead, the rational heads prevail and recognize that it was the idiot, not the tool, that that caused the incident.

Oh, and considering what the numbers show from other nations in the Americas (Six countries in the Americas account for half of all firearm deaths), I am guessing we can still see a flood of weapons coming across the sieve we call a southern border. Criminals are STILL gonna criminal...but you want people left unprotected from the thug class.

Why don’t we impact it by 12%, or 23.43%. Just stating noble goals without addressing the process needed is useless, and so are Libs when it comes to enacting well thought out laws that follow the Constitution.
 
We know mass shootings occur at some frequency. Why isn't the talk around security plans for schools, concerts, churches, public places, etc? Without changing any laws, plans can be put in place to protect people.

We should be willing to protect ourselves, families, churches, and businesses. This is a failing of the men of our society.

I would wager that a decent portion of the weapons that murder people in Mexico are procured in the US.

We should strive to not be happy with our relative success when compared to the nations of the Western Hemisphere. It’s the equivalent of UT bragging about being the best football school out of what is left of the southwest conference - high praise indeed.
