2022 House and Senate election

Can you say all those things about a black person who has (D) after his name?

Example: Saying Obama's ideas or policies on something were stupid was called racist. But, we can say all this about Herschel Walker?
I've read posts on this board disparaging the intelligence of Sheila Jackson Lee that didn't seem racist or unfair. I don't think the D after your name or color of your skin create immunity from being considered to have unexceptional intelligence. Mr. Obama and Mr. Walker may have similar skin tones, but their ability to sound competent and intelligent on television are at variance. "Racist" is a term tossed around too loosely. When logic fails, name calling can be a persuasive rhetorical device to an unsophisticated audience.I remember a recent Presidential candidate who seemed to profit by attaching disparaging labels on his opponents.

Yeah. I think he owes one to the mentally stable genius for endorsing his general election opponent in the Republican Primary, but Deez has opined that Pennsylvania would have voted Democrat even if Fetterman hadn't faced a candidate with questionable Pennsylvania residency and a lot of political baggage.

I think the seat was forfeited when the GOP nominated Doug Mastriano for governor. The dude lost by about 15 points. Furthermore, he was toxic and massively dragged the entire ticket down. They also got their asses kicked in the state legislative elections. Toomey may have survived had he sought reelection, but I don't think any Republican would have won it as an open seat.

What's really sad is that we organized our shittiness in a perfect position for losing. Oz was bad, but he wasn't as weird as Boulduc or Masters and wasn't a sawed-off Wilt Chamberlain with an army division of illegitimate children. If he had somehow run in Georgia (or perhaps even Arizona), he would have won. Only a totally catastrophic candidate could lose that race in Georgia in a midterm election in a red-leaning state with a popular Republican governor winning an easy reelection.

Way too much overthinking here. Walker was a terrible candidate. He was not articulate. He had multiple skeletons in his closet. He continually admitted that he was "not that smart" - WTF! As far as I can tell, Walker's only qualifications were being a really good running back and Trump's support. Next time around I suggest we focus on nominating intelligent candidates who do not have multiple scandals in their past.

You know what I am talking about. Not what posters on HF say. I am talking about the media and the left that drives everything. Can anyone out there criticize Obama or Lee and not be labeled by the media as racist?

I have no idea what kind of candidate Walker was. Seem to be a lot experts on that here. But, the media doesn't defend this black person as they would if he ran as a Democrat.

Anyone arguing that is lying.

And, invoking what Trump did here is not the point. Although, it helps my point. The media criticized him for doing that. They had no problem with Madonna's dream of blowing up the WH, DeNiro's constant maniacal rants with physical threats, and on and on.

I think if DeSantis runs in 2024 we can overcome much of our congressional leadership problems and take it. He is a big improvement over Trump. That's something Deez and I can agree with. :)

Now you're going to talk football?

:coolnana:

Actually, I looked at his stats, and my characterization of him isn't totally fair. His yards per carry stayed about the same, even if he wasn't as durable and therefore didn't get the carries. I also remember him being a good kick returner when he came back to Dallas. I wouldn't undo the trade, but he wasn't a bad player for Minnesota or Philadelphia.

We ex

But his trade value helped Jerry and Jimmy build a 3 time NFL champion roster!

At the time of the trade, he was one of the top running backs in the game. Great player, but considering that we got Emmitt Smith, Kevin Smith, Russell Maryland, Darren Woodson, and others from the deal, it was a massive ripoff of the Vikings.

He was coming off a good season, but at the time of the trade, he was only getting 3.0 ypc behind that porous line. He wasn't worth 10% of what the Cowboys got out of the deal.

I remember one of my teachers had such a crush on him. She'd put up newspaper articles on the wall about his ballet exploits and charitable things. Didn't keep up with her by the time he got traded. She might have been put on "unalived" watch.

Kyrsten Sinema becomes an independent. Link. Never thought I'd see this happen. When she first entered politics, she was a total crackpot. She ran as a moderate independent for Senate. I thought she was lying like most of Democrats who run as moderates. She was the rare honest politician.

You have to wonder if McConnell was aware of this before the midterms since he seemed so sanguine about the senate races. Also, I think he knows that Manchin is about done with his party too. That makes it 51-49 GOP for the key legislation.

So who will Sinema caucus with? I suspect still with the Dems.
She says no caucus with anyone. She actually prefers to hang out with the GOP members on the senate floor. She is apparently repulsed by the ******** from the other side.

It was a pretty safe bet she was going to have a hotly contested primary for Dem next time anyway. might as well get out in front and try to build the independent brand. she's obviously not comfortable with the lunacy of the left and she was going to have to go all in on lunacy to avoid a nasty primary.

It's just remarkable that she started as a left wing activist, and now she is well to the right of her party to such an extent that she can't function in it anymore. It says a lot about her and a lot about the Party. I suspect that BOSDe is right. She has had a target on her back since she got in the Senate, and by '24, the activist class will be ready to primary her. She must fear that she won't survive. She can't switch fully. She's way too liberal for the GOP (especially for Arizona GOP primary voters), but she's not willing to go full-wing nut for the Democrats either.

That leaves her out in the cold with nowhere to go. Sad. My guess is that she leaves the Senate in '24. Whether her seat flips will depend on whom the GOP nominates (as usual), and if a Republican wins the White House, I could see her getting a gig in the cabinet.

Kari Lake's lawsuit in regards to the 2022 election. Even a sworn statement from a cyber expert who says the breakdown of the machines on election day could not have occurred absent intentional misconduct.

There will be some even on here who say it did not happen
OR it did not affect any races

Personally, I'm reserving judgment on the matter. Even if I think Lake and Masters were crappy candidates who shouldn't have been our nominees, the calamity in Maricopa County is cause for real concern and a legitimate reason to call the election into question, and I'm willing to see what's presented in court. Same standard I applied in the Trump election contests and "Kraken lawsuits."

I'm not sure what the remedy would be. They can't declare a winner, because we can't know for sure how people would have voted? A redo election? Maybe, but I'm not sure how that would be handled. Would it be for the entire state or just Maricopa County? Hard to say.

This guy could be full of crap on this, but he isn't wrong when he says the media would have freaked out had they known he gave to Republicans.

I don't think SBF gave as much to Rs and Ds. I think he gave as much to select R politicians as he did to select D politicians. Probably McCarthy/McConnell types.

So SBF gave 40 million to Republicans? Has that been verified?

I have no idea what the truth is, but I think his comment says a lot whether it's true or not. If it's not true, then he's a partisan hack ripping off money on behalf of liberal politicians. If it is true, then it shows what partisan hacks the media is and how it's basically accepted among insiders. Frankly, both possibilities are plausible.

I saw an interview on CNBC on Kevin O’Leary. As a spokesman, he was paid $15 million. When asked if he did due diligence on the company, he really couldn’t answer. I think the celebrity spokespeople better get ready for some huge lawsuits.

I saw that last week also. Joe K and Becky hit him fairly good after the warm up. OLeary was complaining how he got hurt financially in the deal, they pressed him if he lost any of his $ or just part of the 15 million he was given to begin with

He didn't lose a dime of his own cash yet came on with the intent of looking like he'd been robbed. Good job by Joe and Becky. I've never been fond of OLeary
